The Ahmeek 105s are mid-fat all mountain skis with an oversized appetite for adventure. Whether you're scouting fresh powder lines or ripping corduroy on the frontside, the Ahmeek 105s are right at home.

The Ahmeek collection bridges the gap between aggressive freeride and playful freestyle, allowing for charging hardpack and big terrain, yet having enough flex in the tip to remain playful all over the mountain and float in the powder. Their lightweight pure carbon construction, precision tuned rocker/camber profile, variable sidecut radius, and 105 mm waist make them ideal for taking on whatever Mother Nature throws at you.

The Ahmeek 105s are in a league of their own. Powerful yet playful, light yet substantial. They'll take you where ever you want to go. Ready to shoot into the trees? Easy. Want to rip a groomer? Done. Only want to travel with one pair of skis? Grab the Ahmeek 105s and get ready to take your skiing to the next level.

Dimensions: 139-105-124

  • Early Rise Tip Rocker maximizes flotation in powder and busts through crud
  • Pure Carbon Construction* combines an ultra lightweight biaxial Carbon Fiber (+-45 deg. orientation) coupled with a slightly heavier unidirectional Carbon Fiber and a Poplar hardwood core to create an exceptionally lightweight and responsive ski.
    • *Please note the clear windows in the ski graphic will show carbon fiber rather than wood, as carbon is opaque.
  • Rounded mini-cap top edge with full height UHMW sidewalls are bombproof and look good too.

Pure Carbon Construction

Pure Carbon Ski Construction - What makes skis

Core

Laminated Poplar Hardwood: Premium Tulip Poplar is hand selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

Composites

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber strips above and below the core, ultra lightweight Biaxial Carbon Fiber above and beneath the core,  binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

Sidewall

Full height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight.

Topsheet

Clearview gloss Nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to inside the ski.

Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating. Please note, Base colors are swapped every other pair (black into blue, blue into black).

Blog Post About How to Size and Select Skis

Here's a basic chart to get you started:

Ski Sizing Chart

Sizing skis is a little bit of an art and a little bit of a science. There are numerous factors that all affect the optimal ski length for you.

A few of the factors are:

  • Skier size and weight
  • Skier ability (experts size up, beginners size down)
  • Type of terrain you like
  • Where you normally ski
  • Current ski size

The list could go on and on, but if you need help with the decision, always feel free to call us at 231.459.4323, live chat, or email us!

What snow conditions are they made for?
Ahmeek 105 Snow Usage - Powder - Crud - Trees - Groomers

Are they right for me?
They’re right for you if you're looking for one ski that can do it all with confidence. You want a go-to ski that you can grab whether a storm just rolled through or you've been skiing the same crud for the last two weeks. You want to adventure to new parts of the mountain and possibly head into the backcountry. You want a ski with unmatched versatility, because... You never know what you're going to find next!

Should I choose the Carbon or MidLight (stock) version?
The Carbon version is great for backcountry skiing including uphill touring with it's reduced weight. For a daily driver the MidLight construction is a bit better suited due to better vibration absorption. The reduced weight of the Carbon construction is beneficial for the person looking for the lightest setup. The most notable difference between Midlight and Pure Carbon is a large reduction in swingweight.

Ahmeek 105 - MidLight

What length should I get?
The Ahmeek 105s have tip rocker and a full twin tail. If you are between lengths, size up for a more stable ride, size down for more maneuverability. Check out our size chart in the previous tab for more info.

What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on the Ahmeek 105s as long as the brake width is at least 105mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

What can I customize?

What are Camber Pockets?
Camber Pockets are additional small sections of camber (about 4 in long and 0.030" tall) molded into the overall camber of the ski in front of and behind your midsole position. They increase contact pressure to improve grip on hardpack and ice. [add graphic]

Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 3° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

The Rundown

Ride Notes: Burly, nimble, light - but not too light - it busts crud with ease and rises up in powder.

Design Needs: float in deep powder - whip around trees - rail on groomers like a narrower ski

Purpose: Build one ski to do everything but make the most of a day when the powder is fresh. Make the one ski that you can stash in your car and not need to worry about what conditions are like.

  4. Full twintip tails make the Ahmeeks maneuver easily in the tightest trees.
  5. MidLight construction makes the burly construction tour friendly at under 1925 grams per ski (174 cm).

Loving my Ahmeek 105s

Ski season is winding down here in Minnesota, and now that I've had 10 days on my Ahmeek 105s I'm writing this review. Really pleased with my skis, I mostly ski at Welch Village ski area near the Twin Cities, occasionally in northern Minnesota, unfortunately no trips "out West" this season, so I'm pretty much skiing Midwestern hardback snow. The Ahmeek 105s simply rip . . . never would have expected a "fat" ski to hold an edge, turn after turn, like these do. Wow! Had the chance to ski spring snow conditions at Spirit Mountain, Minnesota yesterday (March 6th) and got to experience how these skis handled higher speeds on long, cruising runs, cutting turns through slushy snow at high speed. . . and I was again so impressed. Stable, damp, fast . . . powerful. Can't wait to experience a powder day out West next winter with my Ahmeek 105s. I love how Shaggy's skis are designed & built in the Midwest, for skiing in the Midwest . . . plus everywhere else! The customer service I received from Jeff at Shaggy's last Spring when I bought my skis was great . . . super helpful in making my decision to buy. Highly, highly recommend!

Mercedes with a side of Porsche

Bought last spring after a trip to Vail and realized I needed more float in my life. Since I primarily ski in Michigan, I was concerned that 105s may be too wide for fun on frontside groomers and I couldn’t have been more wrong. From first run I smiled from ear to ear, amazed at the incredible ride and performance. Smooth as a Benz and responsive as a Porsche when pressed. I’m looking forward to my next COLORADO trip which inspired me to join the shaggy family.

So much fun

Finally had a chance to try these beauties out yesterday and I'm completely amazed at how they handled ever changing conditions. Warm slop to freezing chunks to a bit of ice they plowed through everything. No powder to report. Can't believe the way they handled groomers, they just change direction on a dime and rip. I seriously don't feel I need another ski for anything. Fun. Jeff and the crew guided me through the decision process and the final product is perfect for me. The custom Tubby graphics on the Ahmeek 105 is beautiful and got lot's of compliments. Thank you guys for building a great ski (right here in MI), directly answering the phone every call, and supporting those who needed PPE. Great company and people who deserve the success they've earned. When my kids are ready to size up, you know where I'll be ordering.
