The Ahmeek 95s are playful yet powerful mid-fat all mountain skis built to crush any condition at the resort. From railing groomers to busting crud to slashing in the trees, they’re up for whatever you are. The hybrid MidLight construction, precision-tuned rocker/camber profile, variable sidecut radius, and 95 mm waist make them ideal for taking on whatever Mother Nature throws at you.

Do you want skis with a wider waist that are still nimble on hardpack? Do you want to take on varying terrain and explore new parts of the mountain but still be able to rip the groomers and crud (and ice when necessary)? The Ahmeek 95s fit the bill.

The three models of the Ahmeek collection bridge the gap between aggressive freeride and playful freestyle. They allow skiers to charge hardpack and big terrain, yet have enough flex in the tip and tail to remain playful across the mountain and float through powder.

Just like their bigger brother (the Ahmeek 105), the Ahmeek 95s are powerful yet playful; light yet substantial. They'll take you wherever you want to go. Ready to shoot into the trees? Easy. Want to rip a groomer? Done. Only want to travel with one pair of skis? Grab the Ahmeek 95s and get ready to take your skiing to the next level.

  • Early Rise Tip Rocker maximizes flotation in powder and busts through crud
  • Camber Pockets molded within the overall camber triple the turn initiation contact points for maximum edge grip on hardpack.
  • Hybrid MidLight Construction combines Ash and Poplar hardwoods for weight reduction without sacrificing pop and energy.
  • Rounded Mini-Cap top edge with full-height UHMW sidewalls are bombproof and look good too.

MidLight Construction

Ahmeek 105 Ski Construction - What makes skis

Laminated Ash/Poplar Hardwood: Long grain premium White Ash and Tulip Poplar is hand selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber strips below the core, lightweight Triaxial Fiberglass above and beneath the core, Fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

Full height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

Clearview gloss Nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to inside the ski.

Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating.

Blog Post About How to Size and Select Skis

Here's a basic chart to get you started:

Ski Sizing Chart

Sizing skis is a little bit of an art and a little bit of a science. There are numerous factors that all affect the optimal ski length for you.

A few of the factors are:

  • Skier size and weight
  • Skier ability (experts size up, beginners size down)
  • Type of terrain you like
  • Where you normally ski
  • Current ski size

The list could go on and on, but if you need help with the decision, always feel free to call us at 231.459.4323, live chat, or email us!

What snow conditions are they made for?

Are they right for me?
You want a ski with a wider waist that is still nimble on hardpack, not just a dedicated powder ski. You’re looking to take on a wide variety of terrain and explore new parts of the mountain while still being able to rip the groomers and crud (even ice when necessary).

What length should I get?
The Ahmeek 95s have early rise tips and full twin tails. If you are between lengths, size up for a more stable ride, size down for more maneuverability. Check out our size chart in the previous tab for more info.

What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on the Ahmeek 95s as long as the brake width is at least 95mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

What are Camber Pockets?
Camber Pockets are additional small sections of camber (about 4 in long and 0.030" tall) molded into the overall camber of the ski in front of and behind your midsole position. They increase contact pressure to improve grip on hardpack and ice. [add graphic]

Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 3° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

The Rundown

Ride Notes: Quick and light in the trees while still powerful enough to lay down trenches on corduroy.

Design Needs: quick edge-to-edge - whip around trees - rail on groomers and ice - bust chop and float on powder days

Purpose: Build a one ski quiver that doesn't make you dread the days between storms. Make a ski that is just at home on groomers and ice as it is when exploring new terrain.

Love my Ahmeek 95’s

Had my Ahmeek 95’s built last summer with in house graphics. Called after receiving my proofs and made a few changes. Shaggy’s was happy to make some custom changes at no extra charge. Received them and topped with Marker Griffons. The Midwest was light on snow early so I made first turns on new skis out west in early December. Two more trips out west and a bunch of Midwest skiing in 20/21 found me loving my Shaggy’s more with every turn. I recommend them to everyone who will listen. Great product and customer service!

Powerfully Playful

My maiden day had very Northern Michigan surface...very hard and noisy, 6* temp which evolved to 28* and scattered piles of shavings. The Ahmeeks rocked it all! We have many race teams on the hill that provide excellent visual modeling and I felt the Ahmeeks were disguised racing boards. Powerful enough for the conditions. Even had a 100 yard section of steep, sharp moguls to play on and the Ahmeeks were great there as well. I’ve got some fitness work to do to get the best out of them, and that’s perfect!

Great Skis for the Whole Mountain

I've now skied on the Ahmeek 95s for a full season and I can saw without a doubt that I love them. They've been great for everything Michigan has. They're quick and responsive through the trees and will punch right through the crud on crusty days. I also took them out to Winter Park for a week and they were perfect there. WP got slammed with 40"+ over the week I was there and the skis handled it beautifully

2020 Ahmeek 95’s

After skiing on K2’s my entire life I thought I’d make a change I’m in my 40’s and so glad I made the change. After emails & talking to the guys at Shaggy’s we determined the 95’s would be the best fit. I’ve skied icy conditions, groomed condition, days with heavy crud & even a little powder. In every condition these skis handled flawlessly. I can’t wait to see how they handle the spring snow of Colorado. I have times skiing with my kids & they are very playful but then you can turn them loose on the black diamonds & push them as hard as you can & never feel out of control. The only problem is my wife tried all the Shaggy’s at a demo & now wants to retire her K2’s for a pair of Shaggy’s . Looks like next year we will add another pair of Shaggy’s.

Great All Mountain Ski

Last week I got my first chance on the Ahmeek 95's in Steamboat. First day was all groomers and the edging on the Ahmeek 95 were great. Better than I expected for a 95 underfoot. These skis like medium to long radius turns with speed. On the app I use, it showed I had 30-35 mph sustained speeds with a top speed of 45 mph and they were stable. The groomers were fun.
Second day I got 6” of fresh snow. Again, they handled those conditions great. I think these conditions is where they are at their best. Plowed thru the crud and still getting good edge hold. Especially in the latter part of the day when everything is skied over.
On my third day, I woke up to 15” of snow. They skied well thru the deep stuff, however, there was a little bit of limitation to them in the deeper snow. I know this is to be expected in deep powder with a 95 underfoot ski, but I was still happy with their performance. I just had to work them a little harder.
I am a solid intermediate skier that skis most of the mountain except for steep mogul runs.
Overall, I am very pleased with the skis.
