I’m a bigger guy and I contacted shaggys for advice. The sent me to the Brockway 95 180. I love them. I skied them on over 275 runs last year between Michigan and Colorado. The skis handle the corduroy and powder (8”-12”) awesome. The harder I rode them the better they performed! I bought these skis without a demo and I do not regret the purchase. I’ll be buying more if I ever need too.
The Brockway 90's is one of the best all-mountain bombers I have ever had on my feet. No matter what the conditions, whether it be groomers, crud, ice, and even powder in some cases, these skis rose to the challenge. As a former racer, I was looking for a pair of skis that could do it all, and the Brockway's fit the bill. Want to go fast? Press on the gas and they will go. Run tracked out and need to power through? Not a problem. Even when I needed some extra bite to handle some man-made icepack, they held like something right out of the race room. It doesn't matter what terrain you ski on, these will have you grinning ear to ear after a day on the slopes. I can't recommend these skis enough. On top of that, the crew at Shaggy's is awesome, The Thompon's run a first-class operation, and the customer service they provide is second to none. I'm happy to support Michigan made products and will definitely be adding another pair of Shaggy's to my quiver in the near future.
50 yrs old (my birthday gift btw!), aggressive skier, will ski anywhere on the mountain, ski around 15-20 days per year, have skied Michigan, Jackson/GT, Taos, CO, and in Austria. Love the blacks but also the screamin' blue groomers at speed.
Amazing - no other way to describe these skis. Light, snappy, turns on rails from quick slalom hops to 50 mph butt-on-the-snow monster uphill carves, crud, powder, trees, bumps... everything. Super stable even at speed, track very well, no wandering. I usually ski Michigan (Schuss, Nubs, Bohemia, etc) but was able to take these to Taos and Angel Fire for a week recently and was shocked. One thing I rarely see mentioned in ski reviews is the cruising aspect - when you start to tire out (especially from 10,000 ft elevation for my sea level lungs) you can simply hit a groomer to catch your breath and relax - that is how smooth they are. I skied 5 days straight -Taos 1x and Angel Fire 4x - and jumped out of bed each morning ready for more... THAT to me is worth every penny.
I would not hesitate to reccomend these skis - in fact I'm willing to bet I sold about 20 pairs on my trip (everyone commented on them!).
Got these skis since it was time to replace my old Ahmeeks and I loved the design on them. When they came in, I was not disappointed. These skis look amazing and carve effortlessly, and work great for all different terrain. My favorite skis!
Finally on day 4 and 5 of the ski season we got enough snow to break out my new Brockway 90’s. Both days were granular over hard packed base. These skis rock! It took me a couple of hundred yards to get comfortable and then I let them do the work. Very stable at speed and nice tight carved turns. They also were very solid on the occasional very, very hard pack!
