For 2021, the Tubby 120 has been redesigned from the ground up with both a new shape and a new rocker profile to make it the ultimate powder tool. The combination of the redesigned rocker profile and a pinned tail makes a ski that will leave you smiling and laughing on a powder day after you've surfed effortless turns from top to bottom.

Our MidLight construction brings a lightweight, poppy feel while a rounded mini-cap top edge, UHMW sidewalls, and a new tail bumper increase durability. The Clearview graphic shows off the ash & poplar core construction, and thanks to variations in wood grain and color, every pair will be unique.

Haven't you waited long enough?! Get on a pair of Tubby 120s and you'll feel like you're bouncing on a trampoline between pow turns. They'll still rail on groomers, so you don't have to worry about making it back to the lift. Do whatever you have to do. Give yourself an excuse this year - grab a pair and finally take that trip. We promise - it'll be worth it!

      • Fully Rockered Tip + Tail maximize flotation in powder and rail through crud.
      • Hybrid MidLight Construction combines Ash and Poplar hardwoods for weight reduction without sacrificing pop and energy.
      • Rounded Mini-Cap top edge with full-height UHMW sidewalls are bombproof and look good too.

Do you offer quantity discounts for custom skis?

Yes! We waive the custom artwork fees for orders over 5 pair (same ski, same length). Contact us for further discounts on orders over 10 pair.

I don't have my graphics ready, can I still order order now?

Yes, we will put your skis into production when you send us your artwork. Feel free to order ahead of time.

I would like a custom illustration or full custom artwork for my graphic, can you do that?

We can set you up with either our graphic designer or send print specs to your preferred artist/designer. The art cost for this starts at $200 and increases based on complexity.

What colors will my ski base be?

They will be the the standard base colors/graphics from the stock version of your ski model. For example - the Ahmeek 105s have one ski black with "blue Shaggy's" letters and one ski blue with black "Shaggy's" letters - so any customized Ahmeek 105 will have that corresponding base. Depending on stock levels, we may be able to do an all black base with different color "Shaggy's" letters - call us at (231)459-4323 to inquire.

Ahmeek 105 Ski Construction - What makes skis

          Core

Laminated Ash/Poplar Hardwood: Long grain premium White Ash and Tulip Poplar is hand selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

          Composites

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber strips below the core, lightweight Triaxial Fiberglass above and beneath the core, Fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

          Sidewall

Full height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

          Topsheet

Clearview gloss Nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to inside the ski.

          Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating. Please note, Base colors are swapped every other pair (black into red, red into black).

Here's a basic chart to get you started:

          Ski Sizing Chart

Sizing skis is a little bit of an art and a little bit of a science. There are numerous factors that all affect the optimal ski length for you.

A few of the factors are:

          • Skier size and weight
          • Skier ability (experts size up, beginners size down)
          • Type of terrain you like
          • Where you normally ski
          • Current ski size

The list could go on and on, but if you need help with the decision, always feel free to call us at 231.459.4323, live chat, or email us!

What snow conditions are they made for?

Tubby 120 Snow Usage Chart - Powder Skis

          Are they right for me?
You want to complete your quiver with a fun, lively powder ski that won't wear you down on the deep days.  You want float and stability combined with a rocker profile and tail shape that encourage surfing, slashing, and smearing your way through the woods. If you want a great powder day to be your best powder day, you want the Tubby 120.

          What length should I get?
The Tubby 120s have heavy tip/tail rocker and a forgiving flex. If you are between two sizes - you can easily size up. Check out our size chart in the previous tab for more info.

          What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on the Tubby 120s as long as the brake width is at least 120 mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

          What can I customize?
          Graphics: Full custom topsheet graphics
          Construction: Get a consultation

          Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 3° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

          The Rundown

Ride Notes: Super playful, forgiving, and float like a dream. Not my go-to for hardpack, but whenever there's soft snow - I won't grab anything else!

Design Needs: Maximum flotation - soft tip that deflects in powder - grip when on groomers - full rocker for float and maneuverability.

Purpose: Make a dedicated powder ski that will maximize the fun-factor on powder days. Don't sacrifice flotation for versatility - we've got other skis for that! Build them to make every day in powder your most memorable one.

          Why You'll Love Them

          1. Flotation, flotation, flotation. It's like cheating in the deep snow.
          2. Traditional sidecut with a variable radius will grip on hardpack, but let's be honest - you'll only need that for getting back to the chairlift.
          3. Playful flex keeps you coming back for them like a Golden Retriever and a tennis ball.
          4. MidLight construction keeps the burly construction's weight in check and ready for turns all day.
          5. Solid underfoot and tail flex let you ride out big terrain without taking away any of the fun factor of the overall playful ski.

          Funnest ski ever

I'm no ski expert, but I know what I like. These are the only fat skis I've ever tried (mine are 2017 models) and they're a blast in the backcountry. I'm a big dude, 6'4" and these skis turn super easy on crud, packed pow and pow. Super solid at all backcountry worthy speeds. So glad I bought them.

          Great skies for women too

I've tried many skies over the years and my Tubby's are by far my favorite. This ski is fun for both play and aggressive skiing. Its only limitation is ice. Spring skiing with soft snow is where this ski has a major advantage over other skies. I have a second pair of shaggy skies - sarge 95 which I also enjoy. I bought my Sarge for those icy days, but I find myself switching skis regularly between the two because I like the variety for changing skiing conditions. We have a farm that I will use my tubbys on for back country skiing. The marker EPF touring bindings work great for this. Thank you for designing the tubby ski. It is a ton of fun, especially after you get used to them.

          More Than A Specialized Ski

While the Tubby is labeled as a ski strictly for powder, don't sell them short. The full rocker tip and tail, coupled with the dimensions, allow you to blast through the fresh, but the design offers much more than just ski reserved for the best of days. Skiing the Midwest all season with multiple trips westward allowed me to ski The Tubby on almost every snow condition imaginable - from fluff, to sugar, to crud, the Tubby slashed through them all with optimal performance. Never once did I feel the edge slip during any condition - even on the most pristine of groomed runs. While it tackles various conditions with confidence, the Tubbys time to shine is on the pow days we strive for. Playful when you want em to be, and aggressive as ever when the conditions call for it. Try em out - you'll be hooked after the first lap.

          Unreal

These skis do it all! I've ripped em' anywhere from the mid-west crud to tight tree lines to Corbers Coulior on a pow day. One of the things I was worried about with this ski was stability at high speeds, but I was quickly proven wrong after a couple laps on these bad boys. You can effortlessly link together sharp turns when you are ripping down your favorite local groomer. The ski is very reactive and stable in your average skiing conditions unlike alot of other pow skis I have ridden.

My favorite part about these skis is how well they handle in pow. No matter how deep, you honestly feel like you are skiing on a cloud when you're on a pair of Tubbys. This ski takes skiing pow to the next level. Skiing trees is just as fun because no matter how tight the line these skis are QUICK! You bounce through the grarliest tree lines as easy as walking to your mailbox. I would for sure recomend them to anybody looking for a new pair of planks. #skishaggys
