      Details

Michigan - the name of our beloved home state comes from the Ojibwe word mishigami, meaning “large water” or “large lake.” The water of the Great Lakes is incredibly important to so many aspects of life for not only Michiganders, but all those living in the Great Lakes Region.

From our ski factory here in Northern Michigan, we’re a short drive from the shores of Lake Michigan, known as michi-gami (“great water”) by the Ojibwe. During the warm months, countless people enjoy its crystal-clear waters, and during the winter our local topography is blessed by its plentiful lake-effect snow.

The Lake Michigan Limited Edition graphic highlights the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes in the lake’s silhouette (hand-drawn by our own ski builder, Kelsey Fegan), and the wood core is visible throughout most of the ski’s length. The blue sidewalls add a unique touch that meshes perfectly with the overall theme.

Available on most skis in our line, we’ll only have 100 of the Lake Michigan Limited Edition graphic available, so get yours before they’re gone!

Show off your love for craftsmanship with this custom build on your new skis! We proudly use Select Cut Northern Michigan hardwoods for our cores and every pair of skis built with this clear topsheet will be unique. No two pieces of wood are ever the same (each pair uses 14 pieces).

      Construction

      Proudly Made in USA

      Core

Laminated Ash or Ash/Poplar Hardwood: Long grain premium White Ash and Tulip Poplar is hand selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

      Composites

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber strips along the core, lightweight Triaxial Fiberglass above and beneath the core, Fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

      Sidewall

Full height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight.

      Topsheet

Clearview gloss Nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to inside the ski.

      Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating.

      Ski FAQ

What snow conditions are they made for?
This limited edition graphic is available on most ski models that we build, if you need help picking the perfect pair, call us at 231-459-4323 or fill out the form at www.skishaggys.com/pages/help-me-find-skis!

      What length should I get?
Each model in our ski line has unique characteristics - please visit each individual ski model page for more info or contact us. View 2021 skis at https://www.skishaggys.com/collections/2020-2021-skis.

      What's the base graphic?
The base graphic features one ski black and one ski blue with opposing "Shaggy's" letters and the shape of Lake Michigan in them.

Why aren't they available on the Brockway 80/90/100?
The construction of the Brockway ski line has has a strip of carbon fiber over the core (the other models the carbon is under the core) and the look is different. If you'd like to get this graphic on those skis, just contact us for a graphic mockup - we'll get them built for you!

      What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on these skis. The binding brake width must be at least as wide as the waist width of your selected ski model. For example, the Ahmeek 105s require a brake width of at least 105 mm. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

      What are Camber Pockets?
Camber Pockets are additional small sections of camber (about 4" long and 0.030" tall) molded into the overall camber of the ski in front of and behind your midsole position. They increase contact pressure to improve grip on hardpack and ice.

      Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 2° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

      105 is the new 85!!

Such a versatile and fun ski! This ski's tears up everything in its path, just as promised by Shaggy's. No problem getting these to do short quick turns, and they launch out of hard turns on corduroy. Prior ski was 88 under foot and these are way may fun and capable than those, with the added performance/float in pow. A great one ski quiver, indeed! Purgatory, Wolf Creek (see pic), Monarch and Breck so far!

      Great One Ski Quiver

The Ahmeek's are a great pair of skis for the midwest with occasional trips out west. They handle moderate powder and tight trees with ease, while remaining fun on groomers and mixed midwest conditions. They are much lighter than my previous pair of skis, yet stiff enough to charge through chop! I really like the limited edition graphics as well and the ability to customize the design if desired! This ski has made both my narrower and fatter skis essentially obsolete, and is definitely more fun to ride that both of those!

      Best Skis I've Ever Owned

I bought the 2022 Ahmeek 105's after taking a few runs on a pair of Shaggy's that my brother lent me, and I couldn't have been happier with them last season. I was expecting them to be a good all-mountain skis that made some compromises on differing terrains, but I couldn't have been more wrong. They were a true joy on the long groomers that I rode in Utah. They carve well, and are incredibly controlled when you want to go fast. I didn't get to experience them on a powder day out west, but on the powder I could find they were incredible. I also had a chance to run them through some mixed conditions at Mt. Bohemia, and they made my trip up there one of the most memorable so far. For a pair of skis that are a joy in so many different conditions, I couldn't have asked for anything better.
