The Ahmeek 105s are mid-fat all mountain skis with an oversized appetite for adventure. Whether you're scouting fresh powder lines or ripping corduroy on the frontside, the Ahmeek 105s are right at home.

The Ahmeek collection bridges the gap between aggressive freeride and playful freestyle, allowing for charging hardpack and big terrain, yet having enough flex in the tip to remain playful all over the mountain and float in the powder. Their hybrid MidLight construction, precision tuned rocker/camber profile, variable sidecut radius, and 105 mm waist make them ideal for taking on whatever Mother Nature throws at you.

The Ahmeek 105s are in a league of their own. Powerful yet playful, light yet substantial. They'll take you where ever you want to go. Ready to shoot into the trees? Easy. Want to rip a groomer? Done. Only want to travel with one pair of skis? Grab the Ahmeek 105s and get ready to take your skiing to the next level.

      Dimensions: 139-105-124

      • Early Rise Tip Rocker maximizes flotation in powder and busts through crud
      • Hybrid MidLight Construction combines Ash and Poplar hardwoods for weight reduction without sacrificing pop and energy.
      • Rounded mini-cap top edge with full height UHMW sidewalls are bombproof and look good too.

      MidLight Construction

Ahmeek 105 Ski Construction - What makes skis

      Core

Laminated Ash/Poplar Hardwood: Long grain premium White Ash and Tulip Poplar is hand selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

      Composites

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber strips below the core, lightweight Triaxial Fiberglass above and beneath the core, Fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

      Sidewall

Full height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

      Topsheet

Clearview gloss Nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to inside the ski.

      Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating.

Blog Post About How to Size and Pick Skis

Here's a basic chart to get you started.

      Ski Sizing Chart

Sizing skis is a little bit of an art and a little bit of a science. There are numerous factors that all effect the optimal ski length for you.

A few of the factors are:

      • Skier size and weight
      • Skier ability (experts size up, beginners size down)
      • Type of terrain you like
      • Where you normally ski
      • Current ski size

The list could go on and on, but if you need help with the decision, always feel free to call us at 231.459.4323, live chat, or email us!

What snow conditions are they made for?
      Ahmeek 105 Snow Usage - Powder - Crud - Trees - Groomers

      Are they right for me?
They’re right for you if you're looking for one ski that can do it all with confidence. You want a go-to ski that you can grab whether a storm just rolled through or you've been skiing the same crud for the last two weeks. You want to adventure to new parts of the mountain and possibly head into the backcountry. You want a ski with unmatched versatility, because... You never know what you're going to find next!

      What length should I get?
The Ahmeek 105s have tip rocker and a full twin tail. If you are between lengths, size up for a more stable ride, size down for more maneuverability. Check out our size chart in the previous tab for more info.

      What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on the Ahmeek 105s as long as the brake width is at least 105mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

      What can I customize?
      Graphics: Full custom topsheet graphics
      Construction: Get a consultation

      What are Camber Pockets?
Camber Pockets are additional small sections of camber (about 4 in long and 0.030" tall) molded into the overall camber of the ski in front of and behind your midsole position. They increase contact pressure to improve grip on hardpack and ice. [add graphic]

      Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 3° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

      The Rundown

Ride Notes: Burly, nimble, light - but not too light - it busts crud with ease and rises up in powder.

Design Needs: float in deep powder - whip around trees - rail on groomers like a narrower ski

Purpose: Build one ski to do everything but make the most of a day when the powder is fresh. Make the one ski that you can stash in your car and not need to worry about what conditions are like.

      On order !!

Demo'd Ahmeek 105 in two different lengths and decided on 174. Wasn't a fat ski fan until I tried these in spring slush. Wow, all of a sudden, I did not need to spot my turns .................. skiing heads up again, the way it should be. Felt like butter in all levels of build on the hill, Ordered these for summer build with custom graphic. Lot of fun for an older guy !!!!!!!!!!! Really expect them to maintain a more relaxed even stance in powder based on "slush cup" performance !!!

      LOVE DA HOP SKIS!!!!!!

I'm an intermediate skier and usually stick to the groomers but also like to find some fresh powder too. The Ahmeek 105's are the absolute best for me. I LOVE the variation I got with Da Hop Ski design and it really makes it a unique ski on the hill. They are forgiving enough to handle any dumb moves I try to make, but are also spirited enough that if you want a ski that can get going, these can do that too. An all around fantastic ski for my ability and I'm sure will be a delight to those who push the limits more or prefer more advanced terrain. I'm so glad I was directed to Shaggy's by a family member and these are now my FAVORITE skis. You'll love them for sure. THANK YOU to the Shaggy's team for such a great product.

They Dance in Deep Snow and the Tracked Out.

We hit ten days at Bohemia with big snow and the Ahmeeks slayed it. From waist deep to tracked out the Ahmeeks danced through it all with ease. They turn so easily I would suggest maybe going 5 cm longer than you think you might want. I bought a 174 because I ski primarily at Boyne and already have a 184 bootjack. I feel that a 180 would have been maybe a little better at Bohemia.
I let my buddy ski them for a day and he was blown away. He skis a cham 94 and couldn't believe how much more nimble the Ahmeeks were. I also have to give a tip of the hat to the Purder 2. At 184/133 underfoot it pounded and floated and was super nimble for such a big ski wow. I won't be afraid to ski them in the trees again. All in all I've loved every pair of Skis I have from this wonderful company.

      Flat out awesome

These are an unbelievable ski. They truly are confidence inspiring. I have had them now on perfect groomers, hard packed ice, crud, some powder, and everything in between. Let me tell you they handle it all with ease. I was a bit nervous going from a "skinny ski" to what I considered a "fat" ski. The 105's lay over and carve with the best of them (if not better). Great super G arcs to quick turns were effortless. Rock solid and stable.

Carbon Fiber Skis vs Fiberglass Skis - Skis Handmade in the USA

      STANDARD LAYUP

Our standard layup construction includes a select cut Ash hardwood core wrapped with triaxial fiberglass and carbon fiber stringers under the core. The carbon stringers are used to increase pop and rebound energy in the ski, while complementing the predictable and torsionally rigid feel of the triaxial fiberglass.

      WHICH CONSTRUCTION SHOULD I GET?

The standard layup is best suited for the majority of skiers, it blends the traditional hardwood core with an energetic feel. Skis utilizing this construction perform virtually the same as their Pure Carbon counterpart. Best for all mountain skiing with limited backcountry touring.

      NANOMAG® DAMPING SYSTEM LAYUP

This method of construction incorporates a sheet of nanoMAG® magnesium into our Standard Layup that significantly reduces vibration and chatter in the nastiest conditions. The damping of the material increases edge hold and creates an exceptionally smooth ride.

      WHICH CONSTRUCTION SHOULD I GET?

The nanoMAG® Damping System is suited for the skier looking for the ultimate in smooth skiing, especially when making high speed turns. This option maximizes grip on ice. Two words to describe this option are "Smooth and Stable". This will slightly reduce liveliness (vs. Standard or Pure Carbon) but gives you that Cadillac Ride!

      Custom Ski Graphics

Want to personalize your skis? Design your own custom graphic and we'll print it!

We press your digital design into a plastic topsheet using the highest quality sublimation inks. During this process the ink actually becomes a gas and permeates into the plastic, actually becoming part of the plastic.

Read below for some of the options we offer, but if you don't see the answer to your question, just get ahold of us at 231.459.4323, live chat, or email jeff@sccskis.com

Want to order your skis now but don’t have your graphic ready? No problem! Go ahead and order, add the graphic fee and put a note on your order that you’ll send your graphic at a later date.

How to Design your Custom Ski Graphic

      • Your custom graphics need to be designed as a rectangle with the dimensions of 16 in wide by the length of the ski plus 10 cm long (ie Ahmeek 180 cm + 10 cm = 190 cm total). This will include both skis as a pair.
      • When designing your custom ski graphic, we recommend you use a graphic program that supports layers such as: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Corel Paintshop Pro, or if you do not have a graphics program you can use GIMP which is a free open-source program (http://www.gimp.org/).
      • Once your purchase is complete, we will send you a specific model design layout template that you can use for general placement, please remember that there may be slight shifts during pressing and to leave adequate room for that (full bleed to the rectangle)
      • Once you have your basic design done, you should paste the graphic layout provided by Shaggy's into a new layer (top layer) to see how the graphic will look with the ski cutouts and make necessary graphic adjustments. Remember to turn the ski layout layer offprior to exporting the file for print. See image below for reference.
      • The design should be done using the CMYK color space (this is how they will be printed), so if it is designed in another color space the colors may be slightly off. We cannot guarantee perfect color accuracy.
      • The design should be done in at least 150 dpi, but we recommend doing them at 200 dpi.
      • If created using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, the source file should be sent directly to us.
      • If a non-Adobe software is used, the files should be exported as a TIFF file, we will provide an upload link to submit the file (they are LARGE).
      • In most instances we will incorporate a small ski information emblem on the skis in an appropriate location near binding placement.

      PURE CARBON LAYUP

Our Pure Carbon construction includes an ultra lightweight biaxial Carbon Fiber (+-45 deg. orientation) coupled with a slightly heavier unidirectional Carbon Fiber. A full Carbon model allows for an exceptionally lightweight and responsive ski. The exceptionally high strength and stiffness of the Carbon Fiber allows us to use a lightweight Poplar wood core, that is Select Cut in Northern Michigan. For maximum binding screw retention, we mill out the core and place an extra retention plate in the binding area. Average weight savings versus their standard counterpart is 1.6 - 1.8 LB/Pair.

      WHICH CONSTRUCTION SHOULD I GET?

The Pure Carbon layup is best suited for the skier looking to often use the ski for backcountry touring where the weight savings allows for more climbing, or someone looking for the lightest ski. Many skiers have reported back that they are able to increase their on-snow time when the conditions are rough, primarily due to reduced muscle fatigue. Skis utilizing this construction perform virtually the same as their standard counterpart, however have a significant weight savings.

*Please note that due to the opacity of Carbon Fiber, skis with this construction will not have "clear windows" into the core as on some models. The windows will instead show the carbon fiber on top of the wood core. Alternatively, and based on availability you may specify to have your graphic printed on a lightweight matte finish white material. Ski graphics with "windows" to see the core, will be white instead.

Two words to describe this option are "Smooth and Stable". This will slightly reduce liveliness (vs. Standard or Pure Carbon) but gives you that Cadillac Ride!

We use the highest quality materials in our skis to give you the best product.

Select Cut Northern Michigan Hardwood Cores

The wood cores are the "hearts" of your skis. At Shaggy's we start out with select cut Northern Michigan hardwood, primarily Ash wood. Ash is an exceptionally snappy and responsive wood with a very high stiffness for it's density. The long grain of the wood that is developed through our bitter cold winters and warm summers gives our cores an unmatched longevity! We also us local Beech and Poplar woods for specific models. The Poplar is used in skis featuring a Pure Carbon construction skis due to it's light nature. We use Beech for a slightly smoother and less poppy ride than Ash. We proudly source our Hardwood from a Matelski's mill right down the street in Boyne Falls, MI.

Northern Michigan Hardwood for Ski Cores

      Composites

We utilize a triaxial fiberglass in our standard models to wrap the core and provide both torsional and longitudinal stiffness. The fiberglass is oriented in three directions, the first parallel to the length of the ski, while the second and third orientations run +- 45 degrees to the first. We also use some of the best Carbon Fiber in the industry in our skis. When used to complement the fiberglass, a uni-directional Carbon Fiber strip is placed underneath the core which allows us to reduce the core thickness and reduce weight while adding responsiveness. When used as the exclusive composite (full Carbon) in a model, we use an ultra lightweight biaxial Carbon Fiber (+-45 deg. orientation) coupled with a slightly heavier uni-directional Carbon Fiber. A full Carbon model allows for an exceptionally lightweight, durable, and responsive ski.
Full Carbon Fiber Touring Ski Layup

      Sidewall Construction

Impact resistant ABS or UHMW-PE plastic surrounds our cores and is above our edges to absorb impacts and provide smooth, stable edge hold in all snow types. We use a special blend of extra wide ABS plastic that is extremely crack resistant in every environment. We place rubber damping strips between our edges, fiberglass, and sidewalls to reduce vibration propagation and to create a flexible shear bonding layer between dissimilar materials for ultimate durability.

Carbon Fiber Skis vs MidLight Fiberglass Skis - Skis Handmade in the USA

      MIDLIGHT LAYUP

Our MidLight Construction combines a laminated Ash and Poplar hardwood core wrapped with a lighter Triaxial Fiberglass and twice the unidirectional Carbon Fiber of the standard construction. This construction style reduces the weight of the ski by ~1/2 lb/pair while maintaining all the energetic characteristics of our Standard Ash construction. With the MidLight construction, you get a ski that's on the lighter side of the spectrum, but is rock solid when it comes to charging through nasty variable snow.

      WHICH CONSTRUCTION SHOULD I GET?

This is best suited for someone who will be exploring all parts of the mountain and likely doing a fair amount of off-piste skiing where maneuvering a lighter ski is easier. It is also great for a person looking for a daily driver ski that can also be used for backcountry touring.

      PURE CARBON LAYUP

Our Pure Carbon construction includes an ultra lightweight biaxial Carbon Fiber (+-45 deg. orientation) coupled with a slightly heavier unidirectional Carbon Fiber.
