The Brockway 80s are tailor made for skiers who spend all day ripping down frontside groomers. Light and agile, they’ll propel you out of carved turns with noticeable pop. The sturdy ash and poplar hardwood core provides a very snappy, energetic ride.

As the narrowest of our production models, the Brockway 80s provide tenacious grip on boilerplate and hardpack. They’re incredibly quick edge to edge and excel at short, nimble turns. And the snow doesn’t have to be smooth - these skis provide ample confidence in inconsistent, variable conditions.

Now standard across our Brockway lineup, the exclusive nanoMAG Damping System reduces vibration and chatter on ice without sacrificing the lively feel you’re looking for.

Subtle camber pockets molded within the overall camber triple the turn initiation contact points for maximum edge grip. The early rise rocker tip profile helps the ski bust through choppy snow and ease into any turn shape. Once the edge is initiated, the fully cambered mid-body engages your edge and maximizes stability.

New for 2021: The Brockway 80 has replaced the Hubbell 85, nanoMAG is now standard.

  • Early Rise Tip Rocker maximizes flotation in powder and busts through crud
  • Ash/Poplar Hardwood Core gives you a smooth and stable, yet energetic ride.
  • Rounded Mini-Cap top edge with full-height UHMW sidewalls are bombproof and look good too.
  • nanoMAG® Damping System construction makes chatter on ice a thing of the past.

nanoMAG® Construction

nanoMAG ski construction

Laminated Ash/Poplar Hardwood: Long grain premium White Ash and Tulip Poplar is hand selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

nanoMAG® Damping System

nanoMAG® magnesium sheets are inlaid into the Ash hardwood cores. The unique characteristic of this material is its ability to dissipate mechanical energy into heat, with increased capacity as the material is moved faster. This unique combination produces the most stable, yet lively 80 mm waist ski on the market. The faster you ski, the more stable they get!

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber strips above and beneath the core, Triaxial Fiberglass above and beneath the core, Fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

Full height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating.

Blog Post About How to Size and Select Skis

Here's a basic chart to get you started:

Ski Sizing Chart

Sizing skis is a little bit of an art and a little bit of a science. There are numerous factors that all affect the optimal ski length for you.

A few of the factors are:

  • Skier size and weight
  • Skier ability (experts size up, beginners size down)
  • Type of terrain you like
  • Where you normally ski
  • Current ski size

The list could go on and on, but if you need help with the decision, always feel free to call us at 231.459.4323, live chat, or email us!

What snow conditions are they made for?

Brockway 80 Ski Usage Chart - Ice - Groomers - Crud

Are they right for me?
You want a powerful all mountain ski that can set an edge on ice and hardpack, yet also rail through crud with confidence and predictability. The more traditional mounting position and stiff tail provide a locked-in, energetic feeling, reminiscent of a race ski, but the added width and lighter weight make for a versatile model that can hold its own in varying snow conditions.

What length should I get?
The Brockway 80s have early rise tip rocker and a stiff flex. If you are between lengths, size up for stability at speed or size down for quicker turns.

What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on the Brockway 80s as long as the brake width is at least 80mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

What can I customize?

What are Camber Pockets?
Camber Pockets are additional small sections of camber (about 4 in long and 0.030" tall) molded into the overall camber of the ski in front of and behind your midsole position. They increase contact pressure to improve grip on hardpack and ice. [add graphic]

Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 3° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

The Rundown

Ride Notes: Fast edge-to-edge, responsive, powerful, and stable. Quickly dives into a short-radius turn when pressured, yet holds steady when opened up.

Design Needs: Awesome edge grip - stiff flex - snappy/energetic rebound

Purpose: Make an all mountain ski that can be driven like a race ski, but excel in a wider variety of conditions. Radius should split the difference between a slalom and GS ski. Give the ski enough backbone so everything you put in, you get out - make it a ski to be driven!

Perfect Short Radius Turns

I should've had these for my slalom racing days haha. These skis will CARVE! It's such a joy to bounce back and forth on the hill. Thank YOU!

Brockway 80 is a badass frontside ski

I've been riding Ahmeek 105s for a couple years and absolutely love them out west or on softer midwest snow, but the hard stuff doesn't like them so I grabbed a pair of Brockway 80s. Great skis that love to run fast. I'm a big guy and got the 186 length and can crank arcs with no chatter. Love these babies.

Turn on a dime, perfect for Midwest and East Coast

Demoed for the day on Boyne Mountain the 2021 Brockway 80 (174cm) side-by-side against the Ameek 105 (180cm). Both amazing skis with different use cases. The Brockway 80 are ideal for the crusty, hardpack, icy, groomed conditions that are common in the Midwest and East Coast. These skis LOVE to turn and are incredibly responsive. They grip on any snow conditions; whether the icy moguls of Idiot's Delight, bulletproof frozen manmade crust on Superbowl, or frozen corduroy of groomed runs like Hemlock, McClouth, or FIS. They make skiing hardpack and icy conditions FUN, with complete control and lightning quick response whether skiing tight slalom or riding the rails with leaned over GS carves. No slipping and sliding across the crust to catch an edge, the Brockways catch, grab and hold an edge, and then instantly release and transition to the other edge. While they lack the width to float on powder, if frontside marked trails are where you primarily ski, and you are looking for a ski that is ultra-responsive and suited to the crusty, hardpack, and often icy conditions of the Midwest or East Coast, the Brockway 80s should be on your shortlist.

Great skis!

Got them in the Hubbel 85 as I ski mostly crap conditions. They are some of the nicest skis I've ever used. The Graphics generate a lot of compliments and inquiries.
