Nimble yet aggressive all mountain skis, the Brockway 90s are built to rail quick turns on hardpack and bust through afternoon crud.

At 90 mm underfoot, the middle child of the Brockway family strikes a perfect balance. The stiff flex and agility make for skis that crave being driven aggressively on groomers, while the versatile width and smooth feel prevent them from getting tossed around in chop and mashed potatoes.

Now standard across our Brockway lineup, the exclusive nanoMAG Damping System reduces vibration and chatter on ice without sacrificing the lively feel you’re looking for.

Subtle camber pockets molded within the overall camber triple the turn initiation contact points for maximum edge grip. The early rise rocker tip profile helps the ski float through soft snow and ease into any turn shape. Once the edge is initiated, the fully cambered mid-body engages your edge and maximizes stability.

New for 2021: Quicker and more responsive sidecut, nanoMAG is now standard, integrated tail bumper for increased durability. The Brockway 90 and Brockway 100 have replaced the Brockway 95.

  • Early Rise Tip Rocker maximizes flotation in powder and busts through crud
  • Ash/Poplar Hardwood Core gives you a smooth and stable, yet energetic ride.
  • Rounded Mini-Cap top edge with full-height UHMW sidewalls are bombproof and look good too.
  • nanoMAG® Damping System construction makes chatter on ice a thing of the past.

Construction

nanoMAG ski construction

Core

Laminated Ash/Poplar Hardwood: Long grain premium White Ash and Tulip Poplar is hand selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

nanoMAG® Damping System

nanoMAG® magnesium sheets are inlaid into the Ash hardwood cores. The unique characteristic of this material is its ability to dissipate mechanical energy into heat, with increased capacity as the material is moved faster. This unique combination produces the most stable, yet lively 90 mm waist ski on the market. The faster you ski, the more stable they get!

Composites

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber strips above and beneath the core, Triaxial Fiberglass above and beneath the core, Fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

Sidewall

Full height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating.

Blog Post About How to Size and Select Skis

Here's a basic chart to get you started:

Ski Sizing Chart

Sizing skis is a little bit of an art and a little bit of a science. There are numerous factors that all affect the optimal ski length for you.

A few of the factors are:

  • Skier size and weight
  • Skier ability (experts size up, beginners size down)
  • Type of terrain you like
  • Where you normally ski
  • Current ski size

The list could go on and on, but if you need help with the decision, always feel free to call us at 231.459.4323, live chat, or email us!

What snow conditions are they made for?
Brockway 90 Snow Type Table

Are they right for me?
You want a versatile all mountain ski with a precise and predictable feel when pushed hard, but enough capability to get you through crud and light powder without being out of its element. The more traditional mounting position and stiff tail provide unshakable edge hold and an energetic ride, but the added width and lighter weight make for a model that excels in varying snow conditions.

What length should I get?
The Brockway 90s have early rise tip rocker and a stiff flex. If you are between lengths, size up for stability at speed or size down for quicker turns.

What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on the Brockway 90s as long as the brake width is at least 90mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

What are Camber Pockets?
Camber Pockets are additional small sections of camber (about 4 in long and 0.030" tall) molded into the overall camber of the ski in front of and behind your midsole position. They increase contact pressure to improve grip on hardpack and ice.

Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 3° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

The Rundown

Ride Notes: Feels like a precise tool that can be pushed to its limits and still perform. Makes turns with the agility of a narrower ski, but breaks through the variable snow like a bigger ski.

Design Needs: Glued-to-the-snow feeling edge grip - stiff flex - snappy flex yet damp and smooth

Purpose: Make an all mountain ski that can be driven like a race ski, but excel in a wide variety of conditions. Radius should split the difference between a slalom and GS ski. Give the ski enough backbone so everything you put in, you get out - make them a ski to be driven!

Why You'll Love Them

  1. Whether the conditions are good or bad, the edge grip of the Brockway 90s won't waver.
  2. The powerful flex gives back as much energy as you can put into them.
  3. The 90 mm waist width will get up and over crud and powder, yet is narrow enough for even the hardest snow.
  4. Camber pockets molded into the overall camber maximize edge hold on hardpack.
  5. nanoMAG® Damping construction makes chatter on ice a thing of the past.

Best All Mountain Bomber Out There

The Brockway 90's is one of the best all-mountain bombers I have ever had on my feet. No matter what the conditions, whether it be groomers, crud, ice, and even powder in some cases, these skis rose to the challenge. As a former racer, I was looking for a pair of skis that could do it all, and the Brockway's fit the bill. Want to go fast? Press on the gas and they will go. Run tracked out and need to power through? Not a problem. Even when I needed some extra bite to handle some man-made icepack, they held like something right out of the race room. It doesn't matter what terrain you ski on, these will have you grinning ear to ear after a day on the slopes. I can't recommend these skis enough. On top of that, the crew at Shaggy's is awesome, The Thompon's run a first-class operation, and the customer service they provide is second to none. I'm happy to support Michigan made products and will definitely be adding another pair of Shaggy's to my quiver in the near future.

50 yrs old (my birthday gift btw!), aggressive skier, will ski anywhere on the mountain, ski around 15-20 days per year, have skied Michigan, Jackson/GT, Taos, CO, and in Austria. Love the blacks but also the screamin' blue groomers at speed.

Amazing - no other way to describe these skis. Light, snappy, turns on rails from quick slalom hops to 50 mph butt-on-the-snow monster uphill carves, crud, powder, trees, bumps... everything. Super stable even at speed, track very well, no wandering. I usually ski Michigan (Schuss, Nubs, Bohemia, etc) but was able to take these to Taos and Angel Fire for a week recently and was shocked. One thing I rarely see mentioned in ski reviews is the cruising aspect - when you start to tire out (especially from 10,000 ft elevation for my sea level lungs) you can simply hit a groomer to catch your breath and relax - that is how smooth they are. I skied 5 days straight -Taos 1x and Angel Fire 4x - and jumped out of bed each morning ready for more... THAT to me is worth every penny.

I would not hesitate to reccomend these skis - in fact I'm willing to bet I sold about 20 pairs on my trip (everyone commented on them!).

Got these skis since it was time to replace my old Ahmeeks and I loved the design on them. When they came in, I was not disappointed. These skis look amazing and carve effortlessly, and work great for all different terrain. My favorite skis!

Great Product and Customer Service

Finally on day 4 and 5 of the ski season we got enough snow to break out my new Brockway 90’s. Both days were granular over hard packed base. These skis rock! It took me a couple of hundred yards to get comfortable and then I let them do the work. Very stable at speed and nice tight carved turns. They also were very solid on the occasional very, very hard pack!

Just dethroned by Bandit X's as best ski ever.

I have an old pair of Bandit X's which I use to start and end each season. I have held onto them for years and continue to ski them because they were the best skis I have ever skied. They have not been my primary pair throughout the season for a while. That changed this year. After one full season the Brockway 95 (mine are 180's with nanoMAG damping) are the best ski's I have ever skied. They have officially dethroned my Bandits. Want the single word descriptors? Damp, powerful, smooth, fun! All that and more. I love these skis!
