About the Artwork

Inspired by the warmth of summer and the rhythm of the waves, Summer Splash captures the feeling of being surrounded by sunlight and motion. Mary’s original acrylic painting evokes the joy of standing in the surf, where water, light, and color collide in perfect energy.

When that vision meets Shaggy’s craftsmanship, it transforms into a ski that’s as beautiful to look at as it is to ride.

The Artist

Mary Bea McWatters is a professional artist from Petoskey, Michigan. Mary Bea’s love for the outdoors and her passion for creating unique and colorful paintings has guided her through twenty years of professional art experience.

Mary Bea has lived and painted in many locations across the United States, including Vermont, North Carolina, and Hawaii. In 2006, she received a BFA in Art and Design from Northern Michigan University in Marquette. After graduation, Mary Bea moved to Mackinac Island, and helped to start Barnwell Landscape and Garden Services. Here she created beauty within the gardens for eight years. Working every summer surrounded by flowers, bikes, and the waters of Northern Michigan, further developed a deep love for painting the natural world.

Currently Mary Bea is a full time artist living in her home town of Petoskey. You can usually find her creating in her studio on the Bear River, riding her bike toward the breathtaking Northern Michigan sunsets, or exploring nature with a paintbrush or camera in hand.

Her work as an artist seeks to become part of the beauty that surrounds us, the beauty that is within us, and the beauty that enriches our lives. It is with great joy and gratitude that she shares her work with you.

Premium Materials

Premium Materials

Core
Select cut Northern Michigan hardwood: Depending on the specific model selected, ash, poplar, or aspen are hand-selected and cut into full length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

Composites
Unidirectional carbon fiber and lightweight triaxial fiberglass are used in varying amounts in each model to provide unparalleled performance. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock solid bonding.

Bio-Based Epoxy
Entropy Super Sap Epoxy contains 28% bio-based content and is specifically designed for skis. It's formulated for high strength and impact resistance, which create a durable, tough and lightweight composite.

Sidewall
Full-height UHMW - the same raw material as your base, bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swingweight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

Topsheet
Clearview gloss nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to the wood core.

Base + Edge
1.4 mm CNC Knife Cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm over-sized and heat treated edges take a beating.
