(Ski Builder) Production - Finishing and Tuning

Shaggy's Skis (SCC Skis, LLC) has expanded to a new 8,000 square-foot facility and is looking for a Ski Production Technician (in finishing) to join our ski building team. The candidate must be a team player and efficient communicator.

Due to the custom and low volume nature of our products, production will require critical thinking and high attention to detail.

This position will be involved in all processes from taking a pressed ski through inspection and packaging. A large portion of this position will include ski cutout on a bandsaw, sanding/shaping, and base grinding using both wet belt sanders and a stone grinder.

The ideal applicant will have experience either with tuning skis or general woodworking (using bandsaws, routers, sanders, etc).

Attention to detail in ski finishing is of utmost importance and is critical for this position. Applicant should be comfortable around general woodworking machinery.

While the ideal candidate for this position will have prior ski tuning experience, we will also consider entry level candidates with a strong passion for skiing and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Starting Compensation: $16.00 – $18.50 per hour depending on experience (primarily tuning) - this is starting, not a ceiling. We review performance quarterly in the first year. Expect to reach $21+/hour in 1-2 years.

Requirements

  • Must be a skier
  • Strong work ethic and self motivated
  • Hands-on workshop or production experience (or school workshop experience)
  • Ability to work with a team to collectively meet production deadlines
  • Ability to learn quickly and work efficiently
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (8 hours)
  • Job requires frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and crouching.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Desire to grow with a small ski manufacturing company
  • Desire to produce high quality skis and keep customers smiling while they are sliding down the snow!

Full Time Benefits include: 401K with 3% employer contribution, free ski season passes, additional $50 biweekly stipend after 6 months, free custom skis, ski industry discounts, flexibility to ski when the conditions are good.
