Experience the Northern Michigan Backcountry with fellow skiers! Backcountry Adventures with Shaggy's meets once a month for a morning of hiking/skinning and skiing in the backcountry followed by a factory tour and refreshments at Shaggy's. Join for free today!
For the first season of Backcountry Adventures with Shaggy's, we'll be heading to locations with easy car access. The "local" adventures will meetup at the Shaggy's Factory. These ventures outside of the resort are for getting out and seeing what else Michigan terrain has to offer our sport! These are informal events, led by volunteers from Shaggy's. If you've always been interested in getting into the BC, but haven't, join us and we'll show you the ropes. In the BC all the time? Come on out and meet up with some like minded skiers! We're all about having fun, nothing too serious. One lap or ten, get out there and you'll experience the fun!
Any skier that wants to get some fresh powder, make their own lines, and get outside the resort and world of chairlifts for a day. Anyone from the experienced backcountry skier to the weekend warrior is invited. This is really a morning meetup to share the experience and make some awesome turns!
At a minimum you simply need a current alpine setup, with that you can bootpack up and ski down. Ideally an Alpine Touring (AT) setup would be great. Skins and AT bindings are great for the longer ascents and deep snow!
Join the email list using the form below and we'll send you detailed info about each event with final info!
Dates coming soon!
Dates for the 16/17 season are tentative based on snowpack. More details will be available as dates get closer, we will also be creating Facebook Events for each meetup so you can share your plans.
